Born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Frances Chiaverini is a solo dance and performance artist, choreographer and a creator/collaborator with the residency series Best of America Loves. She studied at the Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre School and The Juilliard School and first danced with the Nederlands Dans Theater before most recently working with The Forsythe Company, Adam Linder, Paul Barsch, and Shannon Gillen appearing at various celebrated institutions such as MoMa PS1, Joyce Theatre New York, Walt Disney Concert Hall Los Angeles, Pompidou, and Théatre National de Chaillot.
Frances has presented original works for the Schirn Kunsthalle Frankfurt, Alte Oper Frankfurt, and the Children’s Museum of Amman Jordan and received a prize from the National Society of Arts and Letters for choreography. Chiaverini instructs contemporary and classical ballet classes as well as directs Improvisational Movement and Creative Choreographic Composition workshops. As a performer, she can be seen in film, onstage, or in public in any number of iterations surrounding fashion, music, dance, and personhood.
Currently, Frances acts as Choreographic Consultant for the Artist Anne Imhof and is a co-creating a long-running performance series with Katja Cheraneva currently in residence throughout Germany.
